PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - One of the top basketball trainers in the Portland area hosted a grand opening for his new gym in the Rose City on Sunday.
Straight Buckets Performance in southeast Portland is run by 28-year-old Joe Brooks. He’s in the business of basketball and it continues to grow with training that translates.
“I am just obsessive,” Brooks said. “If you tell me I can’t do something, I want it even more.”
From a 10-by-20 home garage to a larger 20-by-20 space, to this immaculate 4,000-square-foot place on Southeast 9th Avenue in Rip City.
“When kids come here, they’re getting training that is going to make a noticeable, tangible difference for them so when they step on the court, they’re going to feel more athletic, they’re going to move better,” Brooks said. “They’re going to be able to express their skills at a higher level because of the way their bodies are going to physically perform.”
